Nobody Should Be Hungry CIC is an independent community initiative supported by The Deli Group, built on the underlying principle that No Question, No Judgement, Nobody Should Be Hungry. Registered in England and Wales no. 12488802. Authorised and regulated by the Community Interest Company Regulator.
The primary project currently underway is Newton Community Fridge, located within Newton Deli at 311 Wargrave Road, Newton-Le-Willows, WA12 8EW which provides free access to high quality, nutritious food, household products and toiletries to those in need across Newton-Le-Willows, St Helens and the surrounding areas. The Community Fridge is part of the HUBBUB Community Fridge Network, and partners with Neighbourly, FareShare Go and Co-op Food Share to redistribute surplus food from major supermarket chains, minimising the environmental impact of food waste whilst helping to ensure that local people do not have to suffer food poverty and insecurity. Regular food and financial donations from members of the community and local businesses help to keep the fridge fully stocked at all times. The ethos is simple – take what you need, leave what you can.
The initiative originated from a Free Christmas Dinner charitable appeal which was organised by Dentons Deli and Newton Deli and which provided free meals and Christmas gifts to in excess of 100 local families in December 2019. It is hoped that this will become an annual event, with further similar initiatives organised throughout the year. You can read more about how the project came about here.
Nobody Should Be Hungry CIC will also be launching a School Uniform Bank project, supporting those families who find themselves in financial difficulty with the provision of quality school uniforms in order to ensure that children’s pride, dignity and self respect can be maintained regardless of their families financial situation.
No Questions. No Judgement. Nobody Should Be Hungry.
